New Music of Rex Willis premiered...

Croatian guitarist Ana Vidovic performed her Sarasota mainland debut on January 24, 2009 to an enthusiastic, sold out audience. Included on her concert was the newly commissioned work "Serenata del Mar" written and dedicated to her by Rex Willis. She recently played this work in her concert at the prestigious GFA International Guitar Festival in Austin, Texas, 2010 (above picture). Be sure to check out one of her great performances of this piece on You Tube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4hr7zT_A-Ic The piece is now published and available with Clear Note Publications. This stunning, young virtuoso has dazzled audiences all over the world. Find out more about her at http://www.anavidovic.com/

Willis' "The Floating Ancillary Ants" for guitar orchestra (published with Tuscany) is now on You Tube. The most recent performance was at UNF in Jacksonville. Check it out by typing in the title at you tube...it's really cool!

Romanza Fantasia
for cello and guitar by Rex Willis
Clear Note Publications 8pp

Beginning and ending with an Adagio
and having a playful midway interlude
of a slightly quicker tempo, this is
an unashamedly romantic composi-
tion from a highly skilled composer
and is a work which should appeal
to anyone who has a fondness for
seductive and charming music.
The writing permits both instruments
to have (almost) equal footing in the
melody stakes and there is some
delightful harmonisation throughout.
I found Romanza Fantasia an absolute
gem of a piece, even to the point of
persuading me to seek out a cellist to
give a performance in concert with
later this year. One can easily imagine
this music being used as a background
theme in some television or film produc-
tion.
Of intermediate standard for both play-
ers and clearly presented (in score only
though), I would say that this is a high-
ly desirable new piece for duos of this
instrumentation. Loved it!
